Agronomic information
SY Epson is a short, stiff strawed variety which has slightly earlier maturity than Scout.
It also has excellent resistance to sprouting.

Recommended sowing rates
Seed rates are dependent on soil conditions, rotation and time of drilling. The more difficult the environment, the higher the seed rate needs to be to compensate for potential plant loss. Suggested seed rates per square metre are shown below, these should always be used in conjunction with the thousand grain weight.

• Mid September–mid October 225–275 seeds/m2
• Mid October onwards 250–325 seeds/m2

Drilling date
The highest yield potential for SY Epson is achievable from sowing mid September onwards.

Nitrogen application
SY Epson is a potential Group 3 variety and should be treated accordingly – typically not exceeding 180 kg N/ha

• 25% mid Feb–mid March
• 50% GS32
• 25% GS34-37

These figures are for guidance purposes only. You must work with your agronomist when calculating nitrogen rates and timings, taking into consideration end market requirements and the fertility of the field. You should also work within any Defra guidelines/restrictions.
