FUNGICIDES

ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION

An emulsifiable concentrate formulation containing 375 g/l fenpropidin (a morpholine fungicide) and 100 g/l difenoconazole (an azole fungicide) for use in sugar and fodder beet.

Maximum application rate: 1 litre product/ha
Maximum no. of applications: 2 per crop

WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

SPYRALE is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

No risk management is necessary to protect wild mammals and birds. SPYRALE is of moderate toxicity to both mammals and birds. The risk to wild mammals and birds feeding on treated areas is low due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed.

BEES
No risk management is necessary as SPYRALE is of low risk to bees.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management is necessary. SPYRALE poses a low risk to the range of arthropods commonly found in and around treated fields e.g. ground beetles and ladybirds.

AQUATIC LIFE
SPYRALE is ’VERY TOXIC TO AQUATIC ORGANISMS, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment’.

SPYRALE is highly toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates, and extremely toxic to algae.
Risk management is not necessary. When used according to the label instructions there will not be sufficient contamination of water to present a risk to aquatic life. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or the used container.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Difenoconazole is very persistent in soil. It is strongly absorbed to soil and is not considered as mobile. Fenpropimorph is moderately persistent in soil, it is strongly absorbed to soil and is therefore not mobile. No risk management is necessary. Use of SPYRALE as recommended presents a low risk to groundwater.

EARTHWORMS

No risk management is necessary. SPYRALE is of low toxicity to earthworms.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

No risk management is necessary. SPYRALE is of low risk to soil organisms.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
When used as recommended SPYRALE is not expected to have adverse effects on non-target plants.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
