WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

SL567A is not classified as “Harmful to game, wild birds and animals”.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

No risk management required to protect wild mammals and birds. Metalaxyl-M, the active ingredient in SL567A is of moderate toxicity to mammals and birds. The risk to wild mammals and birds grazing on treated areas is low, as is the risk due to exposure from other routes, e.g. consumption of earthworms or other invertebrates such as insects.

BEES
No risk management is necessary. SL567A is of low risk to honey bees.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management necessary. SL567A poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields, including carabid beetles, and aphid predators.

AQUATIC LIFE
SL567A is classified as “Harmful to aquatic organisms”.

Do not contaminate surface waters or ditches with chemical or used container.
No risk management necessary. When SL567A is used according to label instructions there will not be sufficient contamination of water to present a risk to aquatic life.

SL567A is not categorised under the LERAP scheme.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Metalaxyl-M has moderate persistence in soil under field conditions. Breakdown is largely due to soil micro-organisms, with considerable mineralisation to carbon dioxide. Although metalaxyl-M is highly mobile in soil, in practice there is a low risk of groundwater contamination following the recommended use of SL567A.

EARTHWORMS

SL567A is of low toxicity to earthworms. No risk management necessary to prevent risks to earthworms.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

SL567A is of low risk to soil micro-organisms. No risk management necessary to prevent risks to the processes of soil respiration and nitrogen turnover.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
When used as recommended, SL567A is not expected to have adverse effects on non-target plants.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
