WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

SKIRMISH is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

No risk management is necessary to protect wild mammals and birds. The risk to wild mammals and birds feeding on treated areas is low due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed.

BEES
No risk management is necessary. SKIRMISH is of low risk to honey bees.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management is necessary. SKIRMISH poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields.

AQUATIC LIFE
SKIRMISH is ’VERY TOXIC TO AQUATIC ORGANISMS’.

Both isoxaben and terbuthylazine are of high toxicity to higher aquatic plants such as duckweed, and terbuthylazine is extremely toxic to algae.

Care should be taken to minimise drift when applying SKIRMISH next to shallow ponds, ditches or slow flowing streams. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or used container.

No risk management necessary. When used according to the label instructions there will not be sufficient contamination of water to present a risk to aquatic life.

Not categorised under the LERAP scheme.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Isoxaben is very persistent in soil, but long-term field studies have shown that residues do not accumulate following successive applications. Isoxaben has a low mobility in soil. Terbuthylazine has moderate persistence and moderate mobility in soil.
No risk management necessary. Use of SKIRMISH according to the label instructions presents a low risk to groundwater.

EARTHWORMS

No risk management is necessary in order to prevent risks to earthworms.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

SKIRMISH is unlikely to have any long-term effect on soil microbial activity. The risk is therefore considered to be low. No risk management is necessary.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
No effects on non-target plant species are expected when SKIRMISH is used as recommended.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
