FUNGICIDES
ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
An SC formulation containing 125 g/litre isopyrazam and 90 g/litre epoxiconazole, a foliar fungicide for use on winter wheat, winter and spring barley, rye and triticale.
Maximum individual dose rate: 1 litre product/hectare
Maximum no. of applications: 2 per crop
WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
SEGURIS is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and mammals’.
No risk management is necessary to protect mammals and birds. SEGURIS is of low toxicity to mammals and birds. The risk to wild mammals and birds feeding on treated areas is low due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed.
BEES
No risk management is necessary as SEGURIS is of low risk to honey bees.
NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management is necessary. SEGURIS poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields, including predatory beetles, predatory mites and parasitic wasps.
AQUATIC LIFE
SEGURIS is classified as
‘Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment’
SEGURIS is extremely toxic to aquatic invertebrates and fish, it is also moderately toxic to algae. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or the used container.
Risk management is essential. SEGURIS can be used safely providing care is taken to prevent spray drift reaching surface waters. The following risk management practices must be carried out in order to ensure that there is adequate protection for aquatic species:
‘Do not allow direct spray from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 5m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing waterbody, unless a Local Environmental Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within 1m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away from water’.
LERAP Category B. Buffer zone may be reduced (see LERAP Guidelines).
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
Epoxiconazole is very persistent in soil under field conditions. Isopyrazam is very persistent in soil under field conditions. Both epoxiconazole and isopyrazam are absorbed to soil and therefore have low mobility in soil. Consequently there is a low risk of groundwater contamination.
SEGURIS is of low toxicity to earthworms and the risk to earthworms is low, and so risk management is not necessary.
SEGURIS is unlikely to have any long term effect on soil microbial activity. The risk is therefore considered to be low. No risk management necessary.
NON-TARGET PLANTS
When used as recommended, SEGURIS is not expec ted to have adverse effects on non-target plants.
