WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

JESTER is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

Both prosulfuron and bromoxynil are of moderate toxicity to birds and mammals. However, the risk to game and wildlife feeding on treated areas is low due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed. No risk management necessary.

BEES
No risk management necessary as the risk to honey bees is low.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
No risk management necessary. JESTER poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields, e.g. ground beetles, ladybirds, spiders and aphid parasitoids.

AQUATIC LIFE
JESTER is classified as ‘Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.’

JESTER is extremely toxic to aquatic plants, and also highly toxic to fish. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or used container.’

No risk management necessary. The risk to aquatic life is low if JESTER is used as directed, preventing spray drift from reaching surface waters.

Not categorised under the LERAP scheme.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Both prosulfuron and bromoxynil have low persistence in soil. Although prosulfuron is highly mobile and bromoxynil is moderately mobile in soil, the risk of groundwater contamination is expected to be low if JESTER is used as directed. No risk management necessary.

EARTHWORMS

No risk management necessary, as the risk to earthworms in areas treated with JESTER is low.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

No risk management necessary. No effect on soil microbial processes were found and so the risk is considered to be low.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
No effects on non-target plants are expected when JESTER is used as directed. As JESTER is used on broad-leaved weeds, care should always be taken to minimise drift when applying close to field boundaries.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
