WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

INSEGAR WG is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

No risk management is necessary to protect wild mammals and birds. INSEGAR WG is of low toxicity to both mammals and birds. The risk to wild mammals and birds feeding on treated areas is low due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed.

BEES
INSEGAR WG has a ‘High risk to bees’.

Risk management is essential. ’Do not apply to crops in open flower or to those in which bees are actively foraging. Do not apply when flowering weeds are present.’

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
INSEGAR WG has a ‘Risk to certain non-target insects or other arthropods’.

Risk management is advised. INSEGAR WG is an insecticide and can adversely affect non-target insect species. Precautions should be taken to avoid spray reaching hedgerows, beetle banks and conservation headlands.

AQUATIC LIFE
INSEGAR WG is classified as ’Toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment’. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or the used container.

Risk management essential. Whilst the toxicity of INSEGAR WG to aquatic invertebrates and fish is extremely high, the product may be used safely providing care is taken to prevent spray drift reaching surface waters. The following risk management practices must be carried out:

‘Do not allow direct spray from broadcast air-assisted sprayers to fall within 8m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing waterbody, unless a Local Environmental Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within 5m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away from water’.

Broadcast air-assisted LERAP. Buffer zone may be reduced.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

INSEGAR WG has low persistence in soil. Under the recommended conditions of use the active substance, fenoxycarb will have low mobility, therefore the risk of ground water contamination is considered to be low.

EARTHWORMS

INSEGAR WG is of moderate toxicity. No risk management is necessary as the risk to earthworms is low.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

INSEGAR WG is unlikely to have any long-term effect on soil microbial activity. The risk is therefore considered to be low. No risk management is necessary.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
Fenoxycarb has negligible activity to plants and consequently, INSEGAR WG should have no adverse effect on field margin plants.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
