WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is not classified as ‘Harmful to game, wild birds and animals’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

Although HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is of high to moderate toxicity to mammals if directly consumed, it is of low toxicity to birds. However, the risk to wild mammals and birds feeding on treated areas is low, due to the limited amount of residues likely to be consumed. No risk management necessary.

BEES
No risk management is necessary and there is no requirement to avoid application of HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY when used alone, where bees may be foraging on flowering crops or weeds.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is a broad spectrum insecticide and can adversely affect non-target insect species. Risk management advised.

‘To protect non-target insects/arthropods respect an untreated buffer zone of 5m to non-crop land’.

AQUATIC LIFE
HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is classified as ‘Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment’.

HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or used container.

Risk management essential. The following risk management phrases apply to the use of this product:

‘Do not allow direct spray from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 5m of the bank of a static or flowing water body, unless a Local Environmental Risk Assessment or Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within 1m from the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application.

Do not allow direct spray from hand held sprayers to fall within 1m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing waterbody. Aim spray from water.’

‘Do not allow direct spray from broadcast air-assisted applications to fall within 25m of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body, unless a Local Environmental Risk Assessment (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within 5m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away from water.’

‘To protect aquatic organisms, respect an unsprayed buffer zone distance to surface water bodies in line with LERAP requirements’.

‘This product qualifies for inclusion within the Local Environment Risk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) scheme. Before each spraying operation from a horizontal boom sprayer or broadcast air-assisted sprayer either a LERAP must be carried out in accordance with PSD’s published guidance or the statutory buffer zone must be maintained. The result of the LERAP must be recorded and kept available for three years.’

HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is LERAP Category B for both horizontal boom sprayers and hand-held sprayers, however, it is advised that a statutory 5 m buffer zone applies to the use of the product in cereal crops and a 5 m advisory buffer zone in other crops for the protection of non-target organisms.

Broadcast air-assisted LERAP. Buffer zone may be reduced.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Lambda-cyhalothrin has moderate persistence in soil, it is strongly absorbed and has been shown to remain in the top 5cm of soil. Therefore the risk of groundwater contamination is low following the use of HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY, and risk management is not necessary.

EARTHWORMS

No risk management is necessary. HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY is of low toxicity to earthworms.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

No risk management necessary. No effect on soil microbial processes were found, therefore the risk is considered to be low.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
Lambda-cyhalothrin has been shown to present a low risk to non target plants at the approved label rates, therefore HALLMARK with ZEON TECHNOLOGY should have no adverse effects on field margin plants.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
