WILDLIFE, MAMMALS AND BIRDS
WILDLIFE

CRUISER OSR is classified as ‘Harmful to birds, game, and other wildlife’.

MAMMALS AND BIRDS

CRUISER OSR is of low toxicity to mammals, but is of high toxicity to birds if directly consumed. Risk management is necessary to protect wild mammals and birds feeding in treated areas. Bury or remove spillages of treated seed immediately to avoid consumption. Care must be taken to keep treated seed secure from people, domestic stock/pets and wildlife at all times during storage and use to avoid accidental consumption. Treated seed must not be used for food or feed.

Direct drilling of seed considerably reduces the risk to birds but care must be taken to ensure that seed is not left on the surface. Visible seed should be buried or removed.

BEES
No risk management is necessary as the risk of exposure to bees from seed treatment use is low.

NON-TARGET INSECTS AND OTHER ARTHROPODS
CRUISER OSR poses a low risk to a range of arthropod species commonly found in and around treated fields such as carabid or staphylind beetles. Although CRUISER OSR is used as a seed treatment, field studies have shown that it can effect soil-dwelling species such as phytophagus collembolans, with potential for recovery in one year. No risk management is necessary.

AQUATIC LIFE
CRUISER OSR is classified as ‘Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effectsm in the aquatic environment’.

CRUISER OSR is of low toxicity to fish and algae, but it is extremely toxic to certain aquatic insect species. Do not allow treated seed to contaminate surface waters. Care must be taken to ensure that surface waters or ditches are not contaminated with the product or the used container.

No risk management necessary, CRUISER OSR can be used safely if used according to label instructions.
Not classified under the LERAP scheme.

SOIL AND GROUNDWATER, EARTHWORMS AND SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS
SOIL AND GROUNDWATER

Thiamethoxam is moderate to very persistent in soil and is highly mobile. Fludioxonil is strongly bound to the soil and is not considered to be mobile. Metalaxyl-M has moderate persistence in soil and is highly mobile. Use of CRUISER OSR according to the label instructions presents a low risk to groundwater.

EARTHWORMS

CRUISER OSR is of low toxicity to earthworms. No risk management is necessary as the risk to earthworms is low.

SOIL MICRO-ORGANISMS

CRUISER OSR is unlikely to have any long-term effect on soil microbial activity. The risk is therefore considered to be low. No risk management is necessary.

NON-TARGET PLANTS
CRUISER OSR is applied as a seed treatment and so the impact on non-target plants is expected to be minimal.

ALWAYS READ THE LABEL: USE PESTICIDES SAFELY

Care must be taken to minimise the risk of surface water contamination from farmyard and field sources.
