PRODUCT LABEL

IMPORTANT: This information is approved as part of the Product Label. All instructions within this section must be carefully read in order to obtain safe and successful use of this product.

GENERAL INFORMATION
AMISTAR PRO contains azoxystrobin, a broad spectrum cereal fungicide from the strobilurin group. Azoxystrobin provides protection and long persistence of effect against disease and also moves systemically. It has translaminar properties and is best applied in the earliest stages of disease development, or before infection following an appropriate disease risk assessment or use of an appropriate decision support system. The length of disease control is generally about four to six weeks during the period of active stem elongation, but can be more when applied at flag leaf/ear emergence.

AMISTAR PRO also contains fenpropimorph, a morpholine fungicide with eradicant and curative action.

AMISTAR PRO shows good crop safety, disease control and maintenance of green leaf area which results in significant yield benefits. It is approved for application to wheat and barley before early milk stage (GS73) or 5 weeks before harvest, whichever is sooner and on oats, rye and triticale up to and including watery ripe stage (GS71) or 5 weeks before harvest, whichever is sooner.

RESTRICTIONS
Certain apple varieties are highly sensitive to azoxystrobin. As a precaution AMISTAR PRO should not be applied when there is a risk of spray drift onto neighbouring apple crops. Spray equipment used to apply AMISTAR PRO to other crops should not be used to treat apples.

If AMISTAR PRO is used under poor growing conditions or on crops under stress due to drought, frost, low fertility, waterlogging etc, it may give less reliable results.

DISEASES CONTROLLED

Rye
Brown Rust (Puccinia recondita)
Rhynchosporium
Powdery Mildew (Erysiphe graminis)
Can reduce the severity of Take-all (Gaeumannomyces graminis var. Tritici)

CROP SPECIFIC INFORMATION
AMISTAR PRO can be used on all winter and spring crops of wheat, barley, oats, triticale and rye.

Timing
Always inspect crops to assess disease development immediately before spraying. For optimum disease control apply AMISTAR PRO before infection following a disease risk assessment or the use of appropriate decision support systems, or as soon as disease is first seen within the crop. Where applications of AMISTAR PRO are required to protect against Ear Disease (Cladosporium and Alternaria) apply at ear emergence.

Take-all

When used to control the listed foliar diseases, AMISTAR PRO applied at the first or second node stage of the crop can reduce the severity of Take-all infection.

Rate of Use
Apply 2.0 litres of product per hectare.

Mixing and Spraying
Ensure that the sprayer is clean and correctly set to give an even application at the required volume. Half-fill the spray tank with clean water and start agitation. Shake the container and add the required amount of AMISTAR PRO to the sprayer using a filling device (e.g. induction bowl or closed transfer unit) or by direct addition to the sprayer tank.

Wash out containers thoroughly, preferably using an integrated pressure rinsing device, or manually rinse three times. Add washings to the sprayer at the time of filling. Complete filling to the required volume and continue to agitate throughout the spraying operation.

Do not leave the spray liquid in the sprayer for long periods (such as during meal breaks or overnight).

Volume of water and spraying
Apply in at least 200 litres of water per hectare using a MEDIUM quality spray (BCPC) at a pressure of at least 2 bar. Apply through conventional crop spraying equipment. In dense crops, increase the water volume to 250–300 litres per hectare to improve coverage.

After spraying
Thoroughly wash out sprayer according to manufacturer’s guidelines and dispose of washings and clean containers according to DEFRA Code of Practice and local water authority guidelines.

AGRICULTURAL PRACTICE

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT

AMISTAR PRO is a co-formulated mixture of the strobilurin azoxystrobin and fenpropimorph.
Azoxystrobin is an active ingredient within the QoI fungicide resistance group.

AMISTAR PRO should be used preventatively and should not be relied on for its curative potential.

Use AMISTAR PRO as part of an Integrated Crop Management (ICM) strategy incorporating other methods of control, including where appropriate other fungicides with a different mode of action. You must not apply more than two foliar applications of Qol containing products to any cereal crop.

There is significant risk of widespread Qol resistance occurring in Septoria tritici populations in the UK. Failure to follow resistance management action may result in reduced levels of disease control.

Strains of barley powdery mildew resistant to Qol’s are common in the UK.

In wheat, AMISTAR PRO must always be used in mixture with another product, recommended for control of the same target disease that contains a fungicide from a different cross resistance group and is applied at a dose that will give robust control.

Disease control may be reduced if strains of other pathogens less sensitive to AMISTAR PRO develop.

Users should refer to current FRAG-UK guidelines for Qol compounds.

SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
PROTECT FROM FROST.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
(a) Operator protection
Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the following personal protective equipment:
WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING (COVERALLS) AND SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling the concentrate.
However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows they provide an equal or higher standard of protection.
WASH ALL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING thoroughly after use especially the insides of gloves.
AVOID ALL CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES.
WASH SPLASHES from skin or eyes immediately.
DO NOT BREATHE SPRAY MIST.
WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after work.
IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, seek medical advice (show label where possible).

(b) Environmental protection
DO NOT CONTAMINATE SURFACE WATERS OR DITCHES with chemical or used container.

(c) Storage and disposal
KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER, tightly closed, in a safe place.
RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsing device or manually rinsing three times. Add washings to sprayer at time of filling and dispose of safely.

THE (COSHH) CONTROL OF SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH REGULATIONS MAY APPLY TO THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT AT WORK
